Handyman price in Prague: how much you will pay for a repair

Are you looking for the answer to how much a handyman costs? The price of minor repairs or installation in an apartment consists of several clearly defined items, hourly rate, travel and possibly a surcharge for urgency or weekend work. In this article you will find an indicative price list and all the factors that influence the final amount.

How much does a handyman charge per hour of work

The basis is an hourly rate starting at approximately 650 Kč per hour of work. Time is calculated in thirty-minute blocks, so you pay for the actual time worked, not a full hour, even if the job takes less time. The rate covers the labour itself, assembly, repair or installation.

• 650 Kč / hour: hourly labour rate
• Billing in 30-minute increments. You pay only for time worked.
• The price is provided in advance before work begins.

Delivery and call-out within Prague

A flat-rate travel fee of 450 Kč is added to the hourly rate. This amount applies uniformly across Prague districts 1 to 10; whether you live in Vinohrady, Holešovice, or Barrandov, the call-out charge remains the same.

Additional charges to anticipate

The standard price list applies to regular working days. A surcharge is added in two situations:

• Work on weekends or public holidays incurs a 50% surcharge on the hourly rate.
• express dispatch within 3 hours of booking: surcharge 800 Kč

If you are in a hurry and need a repair today, the express surcharge is worth it. Conversely, for standard installation or non-urgent repairs, it makes sense to schedule them on a working day without any extra charge.

Materials are handled separately.

The cost of materials, anchors, seals, batteries, switches and the like, is not included in the hourly rate and is charged based on actual consumption. Before any material is purchased or used, the price is always agreed in advance to avoid any unpleasant surprises at the end.

What ultimately influences the final price

• scope of work: assembling a single shelf is quicker than fitting out an entire flat after a move
• condition and age of installation: older piping or damaged brackets extend the work duration
• material requirements, if additional components need to be purchased, this will be reflected in the final amount
• appointment - regular working day, weekend, or express dispatch
• number of tasks at once, combining several minor jobs in a single visit is usually more cost-effective than multiple call-outs.

How the price is agreed in advance

After submitting your enquiry, we will get back to you to clarify the scope of work and provide an indicative price before the tradesman travels to your home. Should it become apparent during the work that more is required than agreed, the price will be reconfirmed, nothing is charged without your knowledge.

Example of an indicative calculation

For illustration: installing two shelves and mounting a TV on the wall usually takes around two hours of work. On a regular working day, this means 2 × 650 Kč for labour plus 450 Kč for travel, totalling approximately 1750 Kč. At the weekend, a fifty per cent surcharge would be added to the rate, bringing the final amount to roughly 2400 Kč. This is an illustrative example. We always confirm the exact price before starting work based on the specific scope.

For larger jobs, such as completing an apartment after a move, assembling furniture, hanging pictures and shelves, or minor finishing touches: the work is typically spread over several hours within one day. For four hours, this means 4 × 650 Kč plus 450 Kč for travel, i.e. Around 3050 Kč; for six hours, approximately 4350 Kč. Here too, the actual scope and thus the final price will be confirmed in advance based on the condition of the apartment and the number of furniture items.
